Electric Melty Tingles ~ excerpt

Loose Id will be publishing Electric Melty Tingles on September 28.

Since this is a rather long entry, I posted it at Live Journal --
http://kz-snow.livejournal.com/3326.html (and, lordie, what a PITA to copy and paste text at LJ). It isn't the complete chapter. I ended it, of course, at a critical juncture. ;-)

Hope you all like it.

K.Z., this is a great excerpt! I really am looking forward to reading this.

This part is just marvelous:

As I watched her hit the floor again, like a drafting compass with a broken hinge, I could almost feel my testicles parting company and landing like finials on either side of my pelvis.

And the dancers at the bachelor party? Worst job ever. I felt really sorry for them. And the whole situation with Ned and Oliver -- very intense and complicated. I still think the title is one of the best ever. :)

Val, thank you so much! I'm ridiculously fond of this story. It's nothing complex or heavy, but for some reason I really became submerged in it -- especially the character of Ned.

The novella does have a quirky structure, though, which I suspect will draw some fire. Although the story spans forty years, its most significant parts (in my mind, anyway) come at the beginning and end of that period. So they're the ones I focused on. The intervening years aren't ignored but are compressed.

You naughty girl for leaving us hanging. :-) Looks great, can't wait to read it.

That's intriguing right there -- how that much time passing will inevitably change them.

Really, Tam, LJ was being so difficult about properly pasting in the text, I had a helluva time getting that section posted. I had to try a half-dozen times, I swear.

*back of hand to forehead* Oh, what I won't do for my art!

:-D

This method makes it very easy for me to avoid reading spoilers. :)

I did it just for you, Chris.

Actually, spoilers aren't really possible here. It's a character- and relationship-based story. The "internal action" drives the plot.
