Dig this.

Okay, so I notice at Goodreads that there's some thread re. humorous lines from m/m books. A member quoted a couple from Jude in Chains. Then in zings a response from another (author) member whose first name begins with A and whose last begins with S.

Euw. If that's supposed to be funny.... I felt ill reading that.

One man's trash etc, I guess.

So she not only called my book trash without ever having read it, she impugned the taste of the innocent poster. Now that's a class act.

This particular individual is known far and wide for her psychotic online episodes, paranoia, and personal grudges, the last of which she spins out of thin air. As a result, she's been banned from many blogs and book review sites, since her zonked-out viciousness has outraged and alienated readers, authors, and reviewers alike. Spurred on by an innocuous post I did at a fellow author's blog last January (which had absolutely nothing to do with said psychopath), she launched into her trademark Crazy Dance, with the full accompaniment of personal emails threatening vilification, and had to be shown the door. I never exchanged a single word with her. Those of you familiar with this creature will understand why.

And now, months later, this. Such sick tenacity astonishes me. Holy kee-rap.

I have heard the tales but fortunately have never witnessed such... but I sure don't plan on purchasing said author's books because it'd leave a bad taste in my mouth to do so.

Bah. People need a life. Yeah, I don't think I'll be getting any either Chris. I sometimes don't understand how a "public figure" who should be cultivating good will among the buying public purposely chooses to do things that could alienate them. That's just dumb. *shakes head*

I always read great lines and think "Oh that's funny, I should remember that" and then .... Yeah. Okay. What did I have for breakfast again?

Oh my, I thought she had finally given up the pose considering the fact she was not a gay man and never will be.

Did I just say that? Oh my my my

It's mind boggling. More than a pose now too, Teddy Pig. There's this bitter, destructive viciousness that she just won't let go of once she embraces it.

I haven't exchanged a single word with the nutbag, much less read, reviewed, or rated any of her books. She hasn't even been on my radar. So where her grudge came from is utterly beyond my ken. But I've seen how she operates -- kind of like a rabid animal with a vocabulary -- so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Sheesh.

Oh honey you brerath and you compete with her by writing M/M. It's obvious she only respects those actual gay men (I call her poodle brigade) less talented than she is.

It's almost hysterical. If I was not in her line of fire so often.

Damn it! I hate blogger comments

I thought it was weird when she first popped up on GR. People there seem to like her, but I think many of them aren't well-traveled, so to speak, and not much crap has hit the fan. Yet.

What she said in this particular thread was really uncalled for, KZ. I just finished Jude in Chains and loved it, and did laugh out loud at parts - Misha is so very clever! (and the laughs helped balance the urge to smack certain people)

K. Z. Snow said...

You made me laugh, TP. Thank you. I needed that. (Sorry about Blogger!)

Chris said...

Sounds like if you AREN'T in her line of fire, maybe you're doing something wrong... like being a sycophant? ;)

wren boudreau said...

Or you might be staying so far under the radar she just hasn't noticed you. Yet.

K. Z. Snow said...

Thanks, Wren. A lot.

I suspect she's in industrial-strength schmooze mode on Goodreads, in part to do damage control and in part to win over readers who aren't familiar with her true colors ... which are pretty flippin' hideous. Hell, anybody can win friends and influence people if they suck up enough.

Until, that is, they let the mask slip. ;-)

Hey, K.Z., I'm really sorry this happened. And I'm really looking forward to reading Jude in Chains Most times, there's no explaining people's online behavior, so we've just got to ignore it.

wren boudreau said...

KZ, you're welcome :)

It will be interesting to see if anything changes over time...

K. Z. Snow said...

Thank you, Val.

All I want, Wren, is for wankers to stay off my back. That's it.

If the comment had come from an ordinary reader, I would've taken it in stride. Everybody has a different sense of humor, and some people have virtually no sense of humor at all. M/M readers in general, though, don't exactly have delicate sensibilities, and that fact alone was a tip-off.

It was just so blatantly obvious what this snide comment was all about, I did one of those groan laughs. That was before I checked the room to make sure I hadn't time-warped back to high school. :-)

LVLM said...

Oh has someone gone off their meds again? snerk

Most of what she says to people is uncalled for so I wouldn't worry too much. Anyone with any kind of sense can see when someone else is acting out of a personal vendetta then a comment in general.

I haven't read your book yet, and yet, I can't see how someone could come to that conclusion based on two sentences. And I thought they were funny. Funnier than others that were posted.

And by the way, you're in good company. The list is very long of those who this person has a personal grudge with. All good authors and decent people outside of their books.

I'd ignore her, this person feeds off of reactions drama and flame wars.

K. Z. Snow said...

Leah :-D

Yeah, I wondered that too.

Your advice is very sound. That's why I won't even visit this person's various blogs -- at least one of which is, I believe, like a secret club to which only her verified Flying Monkeys have access. And she apparently scrutinizes ISP addresses to keep track of potential "enemies."

Yikes.

Chris said...

Oh, we could getcha set up with anonymizing if you really, really want to go have a look see. We have the technology. :D

wren boudreau said...

Chris - you continue to affirm how truly dangerous you are. All those people on the webz who say "Chris is one of the nicest bloggers I ever met" don't know about your alter ego, do they?

Teddy Pig said...

Chris you are giving away the bestest tricks. Shhhhh

Chris said...

*bats eyelashes most innocently*

K. Z. Snow said...

Wren, no shit. And here we thought all she did was knit and tend to her cats. Now I'm beginning to think Chaos and Mayhem are code words for covert operations. :-D

wren boudreau said...

KZ, I think you're right! Did you know that Chris is not only a doer of nefarious deeds, but is also a dealer in the addiction known as linkity, AND has superpowers of rockstar parking and finding and contest winning?

Knitting and cats. Hmph.

Lily said...

Some people just amaze me. And I don't mean that in a good way. What a totally uncalled for remark.

Chris said...

*guileless expression with more eyelash batting*

K. Z. Snow said...

Hi, Lily.

Yeah, she's a real piece of work. You'd be amazed how many really, really good authors, and sane ones, have been attacked by her and her minions. (And I don't mean fun minions, like Kris has. This group is toxically vengeful.)

Now that I think about it, I'm rather glad I made her sick. Maybe next time, she'll actually read one of my books ... and power-hurl all over her house. ;-)

wren boudreau said...

KZ: Ew

Chris: not fooling anyone.

K. Z. Snow said...

But I'm the Queen of Ew, dontcha know? (Actually, I think my kingdom is spelled EUW.)

Damn, I wish Blogger would quit chopping up my smilies.

Lily said...

I did not need that vision in my head! Yuk! :D

wren boudreau said...

So yer the Queen of EUW!

All Hail, eh?

K. Z. Snow said...

I'm afraid I'm not very good at it, though, since I've received no other reports of reader illness.

I need to work on that.

Kris said...

I did notice what had happened in the email update I received from the m/m romance group. I figured it was something like this. Heh.

K. Z. Snow said...

Yeah, and now the snake is trying to play innocent. "Huh? Who, me? What agenda?" She's always braying about her honesty, yet when she's called out for her spiteful and/or irrational behavior, she backpedals and tries to make excuses for it.

If you're gonna be a shit-stirring bitch, Bitch, have the 'nads to own it.

F***ing hypocrite.

LVLM said...

passive aggressive- that's how I read her response.

K. Z. Snow said...

That's a good take on it, Leah. Still trying to be manipulative and influence opinion, but in a "backdoor" way that (she thinks) will leave her blameless.

What's creepy, too, is how she repeatedly returns to the threads where she's posted...and then she keeps posting until either the issue peters out or she's told to hit the road. I've seen it happen or heard of it happening countless times.

This is one sick puppy.
