Welcome to my stop on Liquid Silver's Holiday Hotties Blog Tour! You should've arrived here via Roscoe James's post.
Whether you're in the Yukon or Yuma, may you enoy the best this magical season has to offer. I realize my tree is a little bare (*ahem*), but I don't like 'em with a lot of tinsel. ;-)
As you all know, snow is a common occurence in the upper reaches of the northern hemisphere. Those of us forced to spend the winter in these places sometimes get socked with a whole big bunch of snow in a short period -- the dreaded blizzard. From Tuesday night through Wednesday, we Wisconsinites got it but good.
Those beautiful white crystals fell with a vengeance and piled as high as two feet. Then came high winds, leading to blowing, massive drifting, and power outages. Then came frigid cold.
We knew it was coming and so could prepare for the blast. But once you're stocked up and hunkered down . . . then what?
Different people do different things on bad-weather days. Some simply proceed with business as usual, or try to. Others like to play in whatever mess Nature is delivering, or immediately set to work cleaning it up (like my SO, out at daybreak with his plow and snowblower, even as the stuff was coming at him horizontally).
But the true and perhaps only joy of a blizzard, I think, is the excuse it gives people to lie around -- with each other, music, a book, a movie, a stock of snackfood. The excuse it gives us just to burrow into a bed or couch or recliner, enjoy the cozy warmth, and drift away . . .
Me? I write. Then I tramp outside to check the birdfeeders, come back in, and write some more. Once my mind begins to yawn, I pop in a movie or turn on a favorite TV show and then lie around, dog at my side. The men in the house, I figure, can keep the woodstove filled.
All in all, it's a sweet retreat.
So how do you like to spend bad-weather days? Are you a sleeper, a reader, an artist or crafter, an adventurer?
And remember, my prize for the blog tour is a free download of any title from any publisher. They're all conveniently and clickably listed farther down the left sidebar. Now hie thee to Ella Drake's blog -- http://elladrake.blogspot.com/. (The nice thing about cyberspace is that you don't have to worry about spinning out and ending up in a ditch!)

I want to curl up into a little warm ball under my flannel sheets and comforter with kitties snuggled up and occasionally peek out to see the snow falling.
Hey, KZ Chris and I have the same idea.
And who's the hottie in your post??
Oh yeah. You ladies have the right idea.
I don't know, Jeanne. I keep asking him, but he won't answer. :-(
that's easy, I bury myself under a mountain of blankets with books, a book lamp and hot cocoa and I dont' come out again until mother nature makes it warm again. OR ELSE.
Definitely a reader. I send hub out with the kids and curl up on the sofa with a blanket and read. Bliss.
Oh yeah, my ereader would be within reach. Just in case.
I love to read and watch the snow fall.
I like to curl up with a good book, my cat next to me, and a cup of tea (or glass of wine).
Bad weather days make me want to stay in by the fire, maybe snuggled in bed. Reading, drinking hot chocolate, playing with some nice warm man...
This has been very nice. Thanks
Welcome, all! Looks like we're pretty much on the same page here -- the lazy page. ;-)
Curled up with a good book and a blanket.
I prefer to stay warm inside the house.
I don't do cold weather.
The snow is pretty from the warm state.
Well, I know what I like to do on bad weather days. Well, when Jolie gets out her school marm outfit.
Hi K Z. Merry Christmas.
Great post.
RJ
Roscoe, you dawg!
I'm all about curling up in a cosy spot on my bed... grab my macbook and read to my heart's content.
ahh...it's the best!
Oh cold and rainy days, I love curling up in my down comforter with a sexy romance story and a cup of lemon tea.
Snow? What's snow?
You have a gorgous muse. :)

CathyM - Lemon tea? Hmm. I love anything lemon but have never had this. Must try it.
Jolie - Don't say anything further!
Kayla - Isn't he lovely? Every time I look at him, I could pass out from sighing.
A good movie, warm blankets, popcorn, snuggling with my kids, napping, sometimes writing if I'm inspired.
Curling up on the couch, reading or watching tv. But usually end up outside playing in the snow with the dog
Yes, Jean, most dogs LOVE snow! It makes them entertainingly manic. :-)
I think he had just enough tinsel. Love that picture of the tree... outstanding.

On the couch with the fire going and reading a great book. Bliss.
We haven't had much snow yet this year, but there's nothing like spending a snow day at home reading or watching movies. Hot chocolate sounds good, too.
Books, love to read1 whit Mr. Hotties image in my head!
When our power went out last year for a week we bundled up to keep warm and read the days away. If we don't lose power I alternate. Every time I finish a book(usually 2 or 3 a day depending on length)I craft or do a little housework or bake goodies.
Nice post. and is it officially "The Great Blizzard of '09" as I've heard interesting things but none are the same :)
I put my lounge clothes on and curl up with a good book, a cup of hot beverage ( cocoa, coffee), and when it is too bad for DH to go out, I snuggle with him!!!

Would LOVE to spend all bad weather days in the company of a good book and my bed, but unfortunate reality intrudes, and I often have to run around chauffering the kids and that sort of thing ;) Happy holidays, KZ!

Beth - a week? Yikes! How you occupied your time sounds wonderful, but...but...there's a limit!
Leona - I'm not sure if that weather event was given an official name or not. To me it was just "The Same Old S**t, Except More of It." Or, "Another Wintertime Pain in the Butt." ;-)
@KZ Snow I love it :) I miss snow having temporarily moved to Texas. I will be back in Washington in time to see some and I can't wait. It seems weird not worrying about the weather here. Of course, I'm laughing at the others around here. My baby and I are quite used to colder weather and this is nothing. People are coming up, isn't he cold? etc LOL
Anyways, I'm driving home the long way to avoid driving in it :P
I like your title. Maybe the newspapers will pick up on it.
Definitely curl up with a book and maybe some hot chocolate. What better way to spend it.
We are a board games, and food ,snowed in, type
Leona - I've spent my whole life in the Upper Midwest and, for most of my years, loved winter. But I'm now at the stage where I'd gratefully welcome a respite from it. Not quite ready for shuffleboard in Florida, but I sure wouldn't mind escaping to Hawaii for half the year! (Now where's that sugar daddy who'll get me there? *g*)
Jennifer - Ooo, board games! I have fond memories of playing Monopoly as well as an early electronic game called Dark Tower with my family.
I love to snuggle in bed with my husband. I wish we got more snow here just for that reason.
I've been curling up in a ball for the last two days! The window blew out in the bedroom from the wind so its boarded up til the wind dies down here! So I've been living on the couch with lots of blankets & books while the blizzard is going on!
And happy holidays too!
I'm a sleeper and a reader. I sleep a while then I get up get a hot cup of coffee and a good book a spend the rest of the day reading.
Just the right amount of tinsel...
Tracey D
A blown-out window... Man, I guess we didn't have it so bad after all!
Tracey, I thought so too. It was difficult deciding between the gold tinsel and the silver. But I thought gold would go better with my blog. ;-)
I like to spend the day under the blankets, sadly alone, and either nap, read a book or write. Sometimes all three!
Nothing wrong with being alone, Terri. I treasure my periods of solitude. I once owned a poster that read, "Take some time to be alone. See what colors thy soul doth wear."
Very wise advice, that. Especially in this hectic world.
Hi K.Z. ~ me, depends on my mood. But, mostly, these days, I love to curl up under a pile o' blankets and read or write.
Hey, Savanna! Welcome. Thanks for stopping by.
We're in good company on this tour -- people who all love to read and even some who like to write. Yay!
I'm a reader :) Bad weather yesterday, I just read and did housework. Perfect day!!!
rachie2004 @ yahoo (d0t) com
I'm definitely a sleeper! Just let me curl up under my warm blankets or on the couch and I'm happy.
Too busy chortling over your gorgon post to type coherently! *snickers* Thanks for a good laugh!
Playing on the computer and taking naps. Isn't that what bad weather is for?
I read.
Yvette - Glad you liked it. I'm never at a loss for opinions. ;-)
Thanks, everybody, for coming out to play with us. GOOD LUCK!
Happy Holidays!!
